About Us

Our History

In 2011, J.Y. Ping was a third-year at Harvard Law with two hobbies: making yogurt in his basement to lower his grocery bills and tutoring for the LSAT so he could one day afford Chobani.

Many of his students only found their way to him after paying top dollar for advice they had struggled to retain. J.Y. realized he could reach more people and make a better learning tool by recording his lessons. A year later, he founded 7Sage, the first fully digital LSAT company.

Today, 7Sage's community of students has grown to more than 300,000 strong. In addition to our beloved LSAT course, we offer daily live classes via Zoom, in-person and virtual group courses, one-on-one instruction from 99th-percentile-scoring tutors, admissions consulting with former admissions officers from top schools, and editorial guidance from professional writers.

Our Mission

Not all students can afford the costs of LSAT study services, but all students deserve the same shot. At 7Sage, we aim to level the playing field.

  • Each year, we support aspiring lawyers from low-income backgrounds through our 7Sage Summer Fellowship—an 11-week program that includes LSAT instruction, admissions prep, and a weekly stipend so that fellows can give their undivided attention to law school preparation.
  • We offer LSAT prep for $1/month to students with an LSAC fee waiver.
  • We exert pressure to lower the market price for what an LSAT should cost by offering the best LSAT prep services on the market at prices you can actually afford.
  • We released hundreds of our videos for free for nearly eight years until LSAC stopped us .

We make getting into law school easier and more affordable so you can beat the test, go to law school, and become a lawyer.
